Some things you have to learn, others come naturally. Take golf. Chris Ware loves playing 18 holes with his mates. But unless you're Tiger Woods the first tee can be a bit nerve wracking, especially with half the clubhouse looking on.

It's the same at work. Except on the Travis Perkins Management Training Scheme it's as if Chris has his own coach standing by him all the time, helping, encouraging and ironing out any tricky problems.

Chris began learning the basics, but with day release and in-house training he's built up a huge reservoir of knowledge. Working his way through the different roles within the company and finding out the intricacies of each one has made him to feel a real pro.

The learning was half the fun. 'My confidence has really improved, mainly due to the responsibilities given to me on my way,' he admits. And now, as he aims to become a branch manager, he's thriving and passing on his knowledge to other members of staff. He takes pride ensuring the business is running smoothly, checking everything from health and safety to customer service. Whilst of course, still finding time to play golf. Fancy joining the club?
